Autumn news from the Marina

TMP Marina Autumn

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re making the most of autumn out on the water before winter starts to creep in. If activity around Tamaki Marine Park is anything to go by, many of you have been!

We’ve been busy ourselves. The recent Auckland Boat Show is always a highlight on the calendar and we spent a full day there. It was great to see the industry out in force, showcasing the latest marine tech, new boats, and services all in one place. We also caught up with plenty of familiar faces from around the boating community.

In this newsletter we catch up with some of our local boaties. There’s Mike, one of our drystack fans, and Richard, a keen game fisher who has been a marina berth holder here for the past four years. Plus, we’ve included a couple of special deals from two of our resident marine professionals, Auckland Outboard Workshop and HMB Marine Electrical.

Before I sign off, remember we are always here to help, so please don’t hesitate to ask for our assistance.

See you around the marina,

– Martin and the Tamaki Marine Park Team

Easy Breezy Drystack Boating

Ever wondered what it’s actually like being a Tamaki Marine Park drystack user? Mike from Three Kings has had his boat Firefly in the drytstack for a couple of years now - and he happily shares his point of view on stress-free, queue-free, boatramp-free boating! CLICK TO WATCH

The Lure of Tamaki Marine Park

Richard Cawson is a keen big game fisherman who has based his Riviera 48 at Tamaki Marine Park for the past four years. For Richard, the appeal came down to a combination of things: the location close to home, the quality of the on-site marine services, and the team on-the-ground.

“The location was a big bonus. It’s close to home and it’s handy for getting out into the Gulf. Plus having all the marine service businesses right here makes life easy. I use them a lot and they’re right on my dorstep,” he says.

Richard also enjoys the run back up the Tamaki River at the end of the day. “It’s actually quite a nice way to finish a trip. It gives us time to pack things away, tidy the boat up, and wind down a bit before we get back.”

He’s also quick to credit the TMP team for the small touches that make a difference. “I’ve had a mechanical issue with my onboard crane that lifts my tender, but Joe and the team have saved me a headache, jumping straight in, lifting my tender off and storing it away.”

“To be quite honest - Tamaki Marine Park ticks all the boxes for me.”

Wooden Boatshow

A Busy Start to Boat Show Season

March was a big month for the boating community, with two great events happening almost back to back.

The 25th Auckland Boat Show kicked things off in style - with more than 200 exhibitors showing off the latest boats, gear, and technology. By all accounts it was a strong show, with plenty of interest and some solid sales across the weekend.

At the same time, the NZ Antique & Classic Boat Show celebrated the beauty of traditional boats - Avanti II taking out the award for Best Motor-Powered Craft. There was also some international recognition for new boat design, with the Excess 13 named Best Family Cruiser and the Wauquiez 55 picking up top honours as Luxury Cruiser. Well done!
